Canons and Constitutions
Canonically Ordered
The Canons and Constitutions result from countless hours spent in weekly Zoom meetings. Early in 2022, Bishops Brian Bethke, Bill Mikler, and Jonathan Smith met to imagine and engineer an environment inspiring missional creativity and discipleship zeal.
As a result, by November, the first draft documents were ready to be shared. The feedback was encouraging and propelled us forward.
What makes Reach different is its emphasis. Rather than organizing around a confessional statement, a denominational tradition, or a particular faith expression, we intentionally chose to make the Ethos Statement the guiding principle. This means individuals who may hold minor theological differences with their peers can agree on the essentials of the Christian faith and be joined with a shared ethos.
In a word, Mission is what defines Reach North America. To quote the late Rt. Rev’d. Chuck Murphy of the AMiA, “We’re a missionary society. Nothing more. Nothing less.”
